Why Fee-Based
PURPOSE

I used to work for one of the largest tied Agency Force in Singapore. By and large, my remuneration comes solely in the form of commission paid by the insurer. To clarify, this means that the more policies I sell, the more commission the insurer pays me. As much as I strive to provide responsible financial advice to my clients, my KPI is still solely based on the number of policies sold. As a result, there is inevitably a potential conflict of interest – am I acting in the insurer’s or in your best interest?

After knowing what an insurer wants and what a client needs, I decided to become a fee-based Financial Advisor at an Independent Financial Advisory firm. Consequently, you are the one who sets and pays my salary now. In other words, my KPI is no longer sales-driven. Instead, I’m able to focus on providing you with honest advice that acts in your best interest only. After all, financial planning is never about buying insurance policies alone. By and large, it is more about how to manage money wisely to help you to achieve your goals in a way such that you can lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.
